Skating the night away.

Sami's school had a PTA night at the skating rink a couple weeks ago. She was very excited when she got the flyer and insisted that we had to go (even though she doesn't really skate!) She has some little Dora plastic roller skates that strap over her tennis shoes that she got from her Grandpa Pollock a year or so ago and does okay scooting around the house. She tried "real" roller skates at her cousin's birthday party last year, but didn't fare so well, so I was a little hesitant to go. Plus, Jasen works in the evenings and I couldn't find any of my usual stand-bys to take the little kids for a couple hours, so I knew I'd have to have everyone with me. I decided to brave it anyway, and it turned out to be pretty fun. We put the Dora skates on Cassidy and I made Sami use real ones from the rink again. She actually did quite well. Once she saw her cousin shooting around the rink she decided that she could try a little harder and didn't even fall - until she was doing the limbo. Shelby had fun watching them from our little table where we'd eaten dinner. I think Jackson was just overwhelmed with how loud it was, and couldn't even remember how to squeek - so he did okay! Sami had a great time and now says that she wants her own pair of real roller skates, just like her cousin. Hmmm. . .I wonder if Santa Claus heard that?

What cute pictures!!
I'm glad you decided to brave it and take the kiddos.
I'll bet Sami had fun! Her face sure shows that she did. :)

I am way impressed you took all of your kids! Our school often has skate night and I have never braved it alone, it sounded to over welming. Maybe now that the two older ones can skate on their own I should give it a shot this year.
